You’ll never guess whose idea it was to film ‘Khloé & Lamar’

During a lengthy conversation about the decade since “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” first premiered, Khloé Kardashian said it wasn’t her idea to do a spin-off with ex-husband Lamar Odom.

“I never wanted to do ‘Khloé & Lamar,’ my ex-husband did,” she shockingly revealed to The Hollywood Reporter. The pair, who married in 2009, filmed two seasons in 2011 and 2012, before it was nixed from the schedule.

“He sold it to E!,” said Kardashian, 33, “and I let it happen because I wanted him to be happy. I was the one who canceled it. It was way too much.”

After living apart for quite some time, Odom, 37, fell into a dark spiral that resulted in his near-fatal overdose at a Nevada brothel in 2015.

Jeff Jenkins, co-president of entertainment and development at Bunim/Murray, said the team did not shoot footage during Odom’s hospitalization.

“We deferred to Khloé on what she was comfortable with, because someone’s life was hanging in the balance and that someone is a hero to a lot of young people,” Jenkins said. “It wasn’t necessary to go stick a camera in Lamar’s face while he’s on death’s door in the hospital. It was just too much, so I guess, in a way, there is a line.”

Kardashian and Odom’s on-again, off-again divorce was finalized in 2016.
