Debbie Reynolds to be honored in ‘Halloweentown’ this year

The spirit of Debbie Reynolds will be remembered in “Halloweentown” this year.

The annual Halloween celebration that takes place in St. Helens, Ore.— where the 1998 hit was filmed — will be paying tribute to the late icon during their jack-o’-lantern lighting ceremony.

“This year we wanted to do something extra special,” Reynolds’ “Halloweentown” co-star Kimberly J. Brown said in a YouTube announcement on Tuesday. “We wanted to do a special tribute to her and her role as Grandma Aggie and have a small monument set up there for her. So we’re going to do that this year during the lighting ceremony.”

Although the town recreates the “Halloweentown” set for the month of October, the ceremony remembering Reynolds will take place on October 14.

Brown, who played Reynolds’ granddaughter Marnie in the Disney classic, also mentioned that fellow cast members J. Paul Zimmerman and Judith Hoag will be reuniting for the occasion. It has not been confirmed if Emily Roeske who played Brown’s youngest sibling will be able to make it.

Tickets for a meet-and-greet with the full cast are going for $175 while photos with individual cast members go for a bit cheaper. Brown will also be hosting “Story Time with Marnie” for $165 a ticket.

When Reynolds passed away in December at 84, Brown paid tribute to her movie grandmother on Facebook.

“Debbie lived her life-like all of us should, to the fullest. She was bold, funny, and had the biggest heart,” she said. “Making people happy through her performing was her favorite thing to do, and she showed me at a young age what a gift it is to be able to do that for people.”
