Alison Pill, co-starring with Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters in “American Horror Story: Cult” having its season premiere tonight, has joined the cast of producer Scott Rudin’s spring 2018 revival (and Broadway debut) of Edward Albee’s “Three Tall Women.” Pill joins the previously announced stars, two-time Oscar winner Glenda Jackson and Tony and three-time Emmy winner Laurie Metcalf, in a production staged by two-time Tony winner Joe Mantello.
The 1994 Pulitzer Prize drama, in which three actresses play the same woman at different ages, is slated to begin previews February 27 at the Golden Theatre, in anticipation of a March 29 official opening. The play had its world premiere in Vienna in 1991 and made its U.S. debut off-Broadway at the Vineyard Theatre, where it also won the New York Drama Critics Circle and Lucille Lortel awards for Best Play. It transferred to a commercial off-Broadway run at the Promenade Theatre.
The design team for Broadway includes Miriam Buether (scenic design), Ann Roth (costume design), and Brian MacDevitt (lighting design).
Pill was Tony-nominated for Best Actress in a Play for her Broadway debut in “The Lieutenant Of Inishmore.” Her other New York stage credits include “The House of Blue Leaves,” “The Miracle Worker,” “Reasons to Be Pretty” and the American premiere of “Blackbird.” She recently starred in the ABC drama “The Family” and was a series regular on HBO’s “The Newsroom” and “In Treatment.”
