Bruce Springsteen dotes on psychoanalyst

Writer Steven Gaines and Bruce Springsteen have something in common — they were both patients of psychoanalyst Wayne Myers.

In his “Born to Run” autobiography, Springsteen describes Myers as “an avuncular, soft-spoken man with an easy smile.”

“Over many meetings and long distance phone calls over the next 25 years Doc Myers and I would fight many demons together until his passing in 2009,” the rocker wrote.

Gaines also wrote lovingly about Myers in his memoir, “One of These Things First,” which is out this week in paperback.

“Dr. Myers tried to cure me of my homosexuality. I don’t blame him. He meant well,” Gaines told me. “He obviously had more success with Springsteen.”
