Anna Wintour was seen sprinting from the Tom Ford show on Wednesday night so that she could get to Queens to see her beloved pal Roger Federer in the quarter finals of the US Open.
But spies at Arthur Ashe Stadium say Wintour didn’t look like she much enjoyed the match.
A source at the Park Avenue Armory for the Ford runway show tells us, “Anna was first to leave the show when doors opened — she bolted out in the pouring rain with five security guys around her holding umbrellas and trying to keep her dry.”
Added the impressed insider, “She literally ran a block with them surrounding her and then got in an SUV. It was hilarious watching her run in heels trying not to ruin her hair in the rain.”
But a source at the match told us that an anguished Wintour — who sat courtside with Federer’s team — was later seen “using her bob as curtains” to hide her eyes as Federer imploded while playing Argentinian Juan Martín del Potro.
“The only time you remember she’s human is when she’s watching Federer play,” the source said.
Also spotted at the Open were Britain’s Princess Beatrice, Cynthia Nixon and US Open legend Billie Jean King.
