Cameron Douglas wants to be an actor

The felon son of “Wall Street” actor Michael Douglas wants to move to California to start an acting career while he’s out on parole.

Cameron Douglas — who served almost seven years in a federal prison for drug charges — asked a Manhattan judge to consider letting him relocate to the West Coast to live with his famous grandfather, Kirk Douglas, while he gets settled.

“For a good actor to be successful, they have to be where the jobs are,” Douglas’ lawyer Benjamin Brafman said in Manhattan federal court, adding that Douglas would continue drug treatment and probation in California if he were allowed to move.

In April, Douglas violated the terms of his probation when he was caught with marijuana in his system.

The 38-year-old son and grandson of Hollywood legends Michael (“Basic Instinct”), 72, and Kirk (“Spartacus”), 100, has been living in an apartment in New York and working as a script reader.

“It’s a good job but it’s not his ultimate aspiration … it’s a filler for the acting proposals that are starting to come his way,” Brafman said.

Douglas was also seeking permission to stop attending Narcotics Anonymous three times a week, claiming that his therapist thinks the group meetings are no longer necessary.

But Manhattan federal Judge Richard Berman was hesitant to alter Douglas’ current drug treatment, which also includes individual therapy sessions.

“He has a lifelong drug issue … This is a lifelong challenge,” Berman said, adding that he’s relieved that Douglas has withdrawn his previous request to travel to Europe for work.

Douglas was accompanied to court Thursday by his Brazilian yoga instructor girlfriend, Viviane Thibes, who is pregnant with his child.

The aspiring actor — who has appeared in four movies, including 2003’s “It Runs in the Family” with both Kirk and Michael — is due back in court Oct. 16 to discuss the possibility of his relocation and the status of his drug treatment.

Outside court, Douglas wouldn’t specify what acting gigs he has in the works but, when asked jokingly if he would like to do a remake of his granddad’s most famous role, 1960’s “Spartacus,” he responded, “Who wouldn’t?”

Douglas also commented that his upcoming tell-all book is “coming along” and said his grandfather Kirk’s “health is fantastic.”
