Richard Branson’s son says all humans survived Hurricane Irma

The Bransons have weathered the storm.

On Wednesday, Richard Branson‘s 32-year-old son, Sam, confirmed those who stayed on his father’s private Necker Island has survived Hurricane Irma’s wrath.

“Glad to say that all humans on Necker are ok although a lot of buildings destroyed,” the younger Branson posted on Instagram, along with a photo of the category 5 storm hitting the Caribbean.

“Very concerned for our friends and everyone on the neighboring islands and people in its path,” he continued. “Please don’t take this hurricane lightly if it is heading your way. If your building is not very solid, do find somewhere safe! Homes can be rebuilt but lives can’t.”

He later shared snaps of the destruction in Tortola.

Sir Branson, 67, announced Tuesday he would stay on his private isle as Hurricane Irma thrashed through the Atlantic, reaching the British Virgin Islands on Wednesday.

“We had some lovely guests staying on Necker Island who have cut their trip short for safety reasons, and another group of guests have also postponed,” the Virgin Group founder said in statement. “I will be on Necker alongside our team, as I have been on the three times we have had hurricanes over the past 30 years.”

Hurricane Irma is set to make landfall in Florida this weekend. The deadly storm has already taken 10 lives and wiped the tiny island of Barbuda off the map.
