Lester Holt welcomes grandson

Between covering Hurricanes Harvey and Irma for NBC, anchor Lester Holt became a grandfather, and also picked up awards.

A source tells us of busy Holt, “First he returned from covering Hurricane Harvey in Texas, where he anchored four straight evening broadcasts live in the field, then Lester became a grandfather — welcoming his grandson, Henry Holt, into the world before rushing off to Florida to cover historic Hurricane Irma.”

While on the ground in Florida, Holt also accepted the Radio Television Digital News Association’s Paul White Award, telling the audience in Anaheim, Calif., via video, “I am disappointed that I am unable to accept this honor in person … If there is one audience who would understand, it is this one — my fellow news people.”
