‘Transparent’ star balanced a ‘throuple’ and daddy duty at the same time

As awkward as it must be for an actor to film sex scenes, it’s apparently even more uncomfortable watching those scenes with one’s spouse.

In the upcoming fourth season of “Transparent,” Rob Huebel’s character Len ends up in a “throuple” with his on-screen ex-wife Amy Landecker and guest star Alia Shawkat.

“Things get very sexual,” Huebel told us at a Paley Center for Media screening of the new season on Wednesday. “There’s more nudity, is what I’m saying.”

When asked what it’s like, as a married man, to perform in sex scenes with two women, he said, “It’s really hard to watch the show with my wife because when I was filming that we’d just had our first baby. We’d just gotten home from the hospital with our baby so we’re like getting zero sleep, we’re like zombies and then I would have to wake up and go to work. So right now, watching the show with my wife … my wife is like, ‘Whoa, whoa, whoa, was this right when we brought the baby home? So when I was home with the baby, you were going to work and having sex with these people?'”

He laughed, “It’s a little uncomfortable. It was bad timing.”

Huebel and his wife, former LA news anchor Holly Hannula, welcomed their daughter Holden at 26 weeks in September 2016. She spent 117 days in the NICU before the couple was able to take her home.

He told People at the time that holding the little girl is “the best feeling in the whole world.”
