Bette Midler back after ‘Hello, Dolly!’ accident

Bette Midler is expected back onstage Friday in her Broadway hit “Hello, Dolly!” the night after an accident during the show, sources told Page Six.

On Thursday, Midler took a spill and following the tumble, the curtain dropped and worried fans took to social media to express their concern. “@BetteMidler just took a bad fall after a set malfunction at #hellodolly. Play was stopped. Curtain dropped. No news yet,” wrote one theatergoer.

A spy told us, “Director Jerry Zaks was also in the house and when he saw the incident, he was spotted running to the stage door to make sure Bette was OK.”

Twenty minutes later, Midler, 71, returned to finish the show. The Tony winner reportedly received four standing ovations.

A spy told us, “At the end of the show Bette came off stage and joking yelled out to the cast, ‘If they ask, tell them I was a trouper!”

Midler’s exiting the show in January.

The actress later explained on Twitter: “You may hear I was in a little accident on stage tonight; two set pieces collided, I had to make a run for it, and I fell. But I’m fine.”

A source close to the show told Page Six on Friday afternoon that: “The Divine Stage Diver (a k a Ms Midler) will be on tonight.” Midler’s nickname among fans is “The Divine Miss M” — the title of her 1972 debut album.
