Despite being engaged again to Liam Hemsworth, Miley Cyrus says she wasn’t sure they’d rekindle their romance after calling things off the first time.
“I didn’t know [we’d get back together],” the 24-year-old told The Sun.
“But I had something in my heart, it never felt like it was really over. We kept a great friendship really private,” she continued.
Hemsworth, now 27, proposed to Cyrus in 2012.
Of their break, she said, “It’s good for people to have that space to grow individually. Otherwise, when you’re with someone from 16 until 24, you grow into the same person. We got to become individuals.”
As for their future, she said she hopes “everything stays the same. It feels like nothing changed except we grew up a lot.”
