Icon Jane Birkin is putting on a concert at Carnegie Hall in tribute to Serge Gainsbourg.
The singer/actress/legendary beauty and inspiration for the Hermès Birkin bag will perform “Birkin/Gainsbourg: le symphonique” for her late paramour and collaborator Feb. 1, in what will be her first US performance since 2011.
New arrangements of their work have been put together by composer Nobuyuki Nakajima. Birkin’s said of the show, “It’s a strange situation. What can I do for him now, even though it’s too late . . . Say his words!”
