Ian Somerhalder stole Nikki Reed’s birth control pills

Nikki Reed wasn’t always sure she wanted kids.

The “Twilight” actress revealed on Dr. Berlin’s “Informed Pregnancy” podcast that children weren’t always necessarily in the cards for her.

“I didn’t know if I wanted kids,” Reed said. “I love kids, and I wasn’t sure I didn’t want to be a mom. I just didn’t know.”

But when Reed and husband Ian Somerhalder ultimately decided to start a family, “The Vampire Diaries” alum took matters into his own hands.

“[He] threw out all my birth control pills,” Reed, 29, revealed. “That was it. That was also presumptuous.”

“Unbeknownst to poor Nikki,” Somerhalder, 38, chimed in, “she didn’t realize I was going to go in her purse and take out her birth control — by the way, this was the beginning of the pack, so I had to pop all of those suckers out. There were like 25 of them. It’s a lot of work, especially after a little sangria.”

Apparently, Reed wasn’t too into Somerhalder’s dramatic actions, as he shared that “there’s a six-minute video where she’s freaking out.”

“Actually, now thinking about it, I guess I kind of decided [to start a family],” Somerhalder quipped.

The couple welcomed their first child together, a daughter named Bodhi Soleil Reed Somerhalder, on July 25.
