Mel B won’t be charged with witness intimidation

Mel B won’t be charged with allegedly intimidating a witness in her divorce and restraining order cases against her estranged husband, Stephen Belafonte.

Mel, 42, filed for divorce from Belafonte in March, accusing him of physically abusing and sexually exploiting her by coercing and forcing her to record sex tapes and engage in threesomes, as well as of impregnating the family nanny Lorraine Gilles and forcing her to get an abortion.

Belafonte, 42, adamantly denied the accusations. Mel obtained a temporary restraining order against Belafonte, 42, which she is seeking to make permanent.

Last week, a mutual friend of the estranged couple, rapper Siya, filed a police report accusing the former Spice Girl of sending threatening text messages in an attempt to intimidate her into testifying on Mel’s behalf.

Court documents list Siya as a witness for Belafonte.

Another unnamed woman with whom the couple had a threesome claimed that Mel tried to coerce her into saying Belafonte raped her, despite the woman’s claims that their sexual encounters were consensual. That woman did not pursue legal action against Mel B.

On Friday, police announced that they’d dropped their investigation into Siya’s allegation “because the statements are vague and cannot clearly be interpreted as threats,” E! News reported.

“[Belafonte’s] attorneys are looking to see if there’s been any other intimidation,” a source previously told Page Six. “It’s likely going to go to prosecutors. [Mel’s tactics are] backfiring on her; there isn’t any evidence to back up anything that she’s saying. Mel hasn’t presented any factual evidence to back up any claims of harassment [by Belafonte]. Even if a temporary restraining order is granted by a judge, there’s little likelihood of it going ahead and becoming a permanent restraining order … [her claims] seem so over the top.”
