Rooney Mara on sexual assault survivor role: ‘It was hard for me’

Rooney Mara plays a sexual assault survivor who confronts a childhood abuser years later in her new indie movie, “Una.”

“It was hard for me,” Mara told us of the challenging part.

“We only had five weeks to make it, so we were working very long days . . . At the end of the day, all you do is go home and get ready for the next day and go to sleep. You don’t really need to shed it — you’re exhausted.”

Jean Doumanian produced the film and Benedict Andrews directed.
