Support for Meek Mill makes its way to the Olympics

Support for Meek Mill took over the Super Bowl, and now it’s made its way to PyeongChang.

Slovenian snowboarder Tit Stante used a permanent marker to scribble “#FreeMeekMill” on his snowboard during the Olympic halfpipe qualifiers on Monday. Mill is incarcerated, serving up to four years for a probation violation.

In November, Philadelphia Judge Genece Brinkley sentenced the Philadelphia-born rapper for allegedly violating probation in a decade-old gun and drug case — despite the district attorney and his probation officer having asked for no jail time. The harsh sentence sparked an outcry, with stars including Jay-Z and Rick Ross criticizing Brinkley and the justice system.

At the Super Bowl, the Philadelphia Eagles showed their support for Mill, appropriately choosing his song “Dreams and Nightmares” for their intro. During Rolling Stone Live — where Migos, T-Pain and 21 Savage performed — Philadelphia Eagles jerseys were passed out that had a No. 1 on the front and read “Free Meek Mill” on the back.
