Wall Street bigs trade punches to raise money for charity

Who wouldn’t hand over good money to see bankers from Goldman Sachs, Cantor Fitzgerald and BNP Paribas punch each other?

Some of Wall Street’s toughest got in the boxing ring at Cipriani Wall Street, albeit for a good cause — to raise money for Petra Nemcova’s All Hands and Hearts charity.

At Fight for Education, Cantor senior managing director Peter Cecchini’s face was bloodied after getting a pummeling from Evolution Markets’ crude-oil options specialist Phil Moufarrige, who emerged victorious.

Goldman commodities trader Russell Martin won his bout against Tradition’s Sean Ryan, but then Team Goldman took a hit when Siris Capital’s Nazar Bilukha beat Goldman oil trader Mike Severo.

Michael Strahan, who co-hosted the event, told the crowd, “I do see some familiar faces. Some of you I like. Some of you I don’t. And the ones I don’t, I’m about to call your name, and please come in here and we’re going to get the first match going. I’m joking, Harvey Spevak. I love you,” Strahan quipped to the Equinox CEO, whose gyms trained the Wall Streeters prior to the bouts.

The event raised nearly $1 million to rebuild schools in areas affected by natural disasters.
