Stars are still buying out ‘Love, Simon’ screenings

Stars are still spreading the love.

Following Matt Bomer’s lead, many stars are still buying out screenings of “Love, Simon” in their hometowns.

The high school set film, which was released March 16, follows Simon, a gay teenager struggling with coming out and his first love.

Neil Patrick Harris said that he and husband David Burtka “wanted to pay it forward” with their buyout in Albuquerque, NM, Harris’ hometown.

“There are so many important stories that don’t get made. I am so grateful this one did,” actress Kristen Bell wrote on Instagram to announce her buyout in Edina, MN.

Modern Family” star Jesse Tyler Ferguson and husband Justin Mikita were “so inspired” by Harris and Bomer that they decided to participate, buying out a theater in Mikita’s hometown of Simi Valley, CA on Wednesday.

It’s not just Hollywood stars that are getting in on the action, though.

Soccer player Robbie Rogers, along with his husband Greg Berlanti, bought out two theaters — one in Flowood, MS and another in Louisville, KY. “Our hope is that young LGBTQ people in these cities that might not have the opportunity to see @lovesimonmovie now will have the chance,” Rogers wrote on Instagram.

Social media influencer and model Daniel Preda also jumped on the bandwagon, buying out a theater in Boston, MA.

While some of the screenings have already happened, there are at least three more chances for fans to catch a free showing.

Andrew Rannells plans to share the love at 7 p.m. showing at AMC Classic Westroad 14 on Saturday in his hometown of Omaha. Rannells said the film was “fantastic” and noted that it was “one I wanted to share with folks I know would enjoy it!”

Another soccer star, Sacha Kljestan, along with his wife, Jamie, bought out the Regal Winter Park Village‘s 8 p.m. showing on Thursday in Orlando.

Jennifer Garner, who stars in “Love, Simon,” bought out a theater in her native Charleston, WV. “I’m so happy and proud to be a part of @lovesimonmovie and want to share it with my hometown,” Garner wrote before announcing the buyout of Park Place Stadium’s 6:55 p.m. showing on Saturday.

“Y’all deserve to see this great love story,” Garner said.
