Mike Myers cries over ‘Austin Powers’ co-star Verne Troyer

Mike Myers was so heartbroken at the untimely death of his “Austin Powers: Goldmember” co-star Verne Troyer that he was moved to tears on television.

“Verne was a fantastic human being,” Myers, 54, said on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on Wednesday, choking up. “I worked with him for a long time … I always just want to make that point that, as written, Mini-Me is like almost a prop,” Myers said. “But he brought it up off the page, made it better than written and we ended up giving him more and more stuff to do.”

“He was sweet,” Myers sighed. “I miss him.”

Troyer passed away on April 21 at 49 years old after a long struggle with alcohol abuse, having been hospitalized for possible alcohol poisoning weeks earlier.

Myers revealed that he attended a memorial for the pint-size actor and praised Troyer’s skills as a comedian and dancer.

“He died at 49, he wasn’t supposed to live past his teens — and you saw 150 years of life in this photo montage [at the memorial service],” he said.

Myers also recalled that at a state dinner for Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau during Barack Obama’s presidency, both Trudeau and Obama asked Myers about Mini-Me — showing that a “small human” could have a huge impact on the world.

“Every day you see him, you go, ‘Wow! That is a small human,’” Myers said. “But by the end of the day, you just saw Verne.”
