Matthew Mellon’s daughter rings in 16 with ‘spectacular’ party

Life goes on for the loved ones of Matthew Mellon, who died last month at age 54 before he could check into a Mexican drug-rehab clinic.

Araminta “Minty” Mellon celebrated her 16th birthday on Saturday, just a week after her father’s funeral in Boynton Beach, Fla. Some 200 of her schoolmates and friends attended the Beverly Hills, Calif., bash.

“We’re still devastated, but Matthew wouldn’t have wanted the party to be canceled. That’s not who he was,” a close family friend told me.

The party had been planned long before Matthew, an heir to the Mellon banking dynasty of Pittsburgh who made his own fortune in cryptocurrency, died.

The invite to his funeral stated: “A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered.”

Entertainment for Minty’s party was provided by rapper Travis Scott, who arrived via helicopter to the Beverly Hills mansion of Michael Ovitz, former head of Creative Artists Agency.

Ovitz and Minty’s mother, Jimmy Choo co-founder Tamara Mellon, have been together for seven years.

Scott — who recently fathered a daughter, Stormi, with Kylie Jenner — had the kids dancing. There were only a few adults in attendance, including music mogul LA Reid, whose two youngest kids grew up with Minty.

“The party was spectacular,” one guest reported.

Ovitz’s 28,000-square-foot mansion houses an art collection including works by Ellsworth Kelly, Pablo Picasso, Willem de Kooning, Mark Rothko and Jasper Johns.
