Tommy Mottola helped broker Spotify settlement

Music mogul and Broadway producer Tommy Mottola helped broker recent talks between hip-hop luminaries and Spotify.

Last month, Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith, CEO of the label that’s home to Kendrick Lamar, wanted to alert Spotify to what he saw as censorship in its “hateful conduct” policy and reached out to Diddy and Mottola to get a call with Spotify founder Daniel Ek.

Spotify subsequently changed course.

A source told us, “Tommy brokered the settlement. There were multiple conversations with Ek and Troy Carter to get Spotify as an agnostic music platform.”

Mottola’s “Summer: The Donna Summer Musical” is grooving to over $1 million per week.
