Jill Kargman says parents need to chill

In her inaugural column for LeScoop — the new online mag from Vogue vets Sylvana Ward Durrett and Luisana Mendoza de Roccia — power mom Jill Kargman writes of today’s overscheduled kids, “no one just goes to the playground anymore . . . But why should a kid be an expert in anything? Why can’t they f - - k around with a bunch of stuff and figure out what fuels them along the way?”

She adds: “They schlep to hockey camp or coding camp or gymnastics camp. I mean, this isn’t Romania under the Ceausescus.”

Kargman was at a chic dinner Wednesday to launch LeScoop at Brooklyn’s the Osprey, and to celebrate the first anniversary of LeScoop’s online home, kids e-tailer Maisonette.

Also spotted were Keri Russell, Karolina Kurkova, Huma Abedin, Oliver Jeffers and Jon and Lizzie Tisch.

LeScoop’s editor-in-chief, Mr. Porter alum John Brodie said of the project: “The more we talked . . . the more I realized that I had never really had a favorite source of intel about parenting. So many of the sites were either alarmist, or the content was cold and clinical. We created LeScoop as a playbook so parenting can be a rewarding and fun experience.”
