Twenty-five years ago, the Sanderson Sisters put a spell on us — and we haven’t been the same since. “Hocus Pocus,” which is available to rent on iTunes, came out in 1993 and has since become one of the most iconic Halloween movies of all time. Here’s what the the stars of the film are doing 25 years after its release.

Between her Tony-winning turn in Broadway’s “Hello, Dolly!” and her politically charged social media presence, Bette Midler, who was already a huge star when she played Winifred Sanderson in “Hocus Pocus,” is still very much in the spotlight.

Before she was Carrie Bradshaw, Sarah Jessica Parker was playing Sarah Sanderson, the simple-minded witch in “Hocus Pocus.” These days, she has a shoe line, a book club and a starring role on HBO’s “Divorce.”

Kathy Najimy played the third Sanderson sister, Mary. Following the 1993 film, Najimy continued to act and has recently appeared in “Younger,” “Veep” and “Graves.” She also voices Peggy on “King of The Hill.”

Thora Birch was set to become a big Hollywood star after playing Dani in “Hocus Pocus,” when she landed roles in “American Beauty” and “Ghost World” in the late ’90s and early ’00s. She continued acting in indie movies and most recently completed “Above Suspicion” alongside Emilia Clarke and Johnny Knoxville.

Omri Katz, who played Max (a.k.a. the virgin who lit the candle and brought back the Sanderson sisters), stepped away from acting in 2002. It’s unclear what he’s doing for work these days, but according to Instagram account, he’s into wakesurfing, motorcycles and his pit bull puppy.

Vinessa Shaw, who played Max’s love interest Allison, is still acting, but has recently added another role to her resume: mom. The actress welcomed a baby boy in March.

You’ve seen Billy Butcherson way more recently than you probably realized. Actor Doug Jones most recently played the amphibian man in Best Picture winner “The Shape of Water.” He also plays Saru on the new CBS All Access “Star Trek: Discovery” series.

Thackery Binx! Actor Sean Murray only appeared in the beginning and end of the film, but played an important part nonetheless. These days, Murray plays Timothy McGee on “NCIS,” a role he’s portrayed for the last 15 years.

Who can forget the “Hocus Pocus” character with the word “Ice” shaved into the side of his head? Actor Larry Bagby, who played “Ice,” went on to act in “Walk the Line” and appeared in some episodes of “Buffy The Vampire Slayer.” Bagby is still acting in smaller films.

The other bully in the film, Jay, is played by Tobias Jelinek. Jelinek has guest-starred on hit shows including “Shameless,” “Stranger Things,” “Baskets” and, most recently, appeared in Paramount’s “American Woman.”

Stephanie Faracy, who played Dani and Max’s mom, has also stayed strong on the acting scene, having appeared on TV’s “How to Get Away With Murder,” “Devious Maids” and more. She also had roles in films including “Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates” and “The Five-Year Engagement.”

Charles Rocket played Dani and Max’s father in the hit Halloween film. The actor died by suicide in 2005.

Garry Marshall had an uncredited role as the devil. Marshall, who was already a well- established writer/producer/director before “Hocus Pocus,” went on to direct films like “Princess Diaries,” “Raising Helen,” “Georgia Rule” and holiday films including “Mother’s Day” and “New Year’s Eve.” Marshall passed away in 2016 due to complications from pneumonia after suffering a stroke.

Garry’s sister Penny Marshall also appeared in “Hocus Pocus,” playing the devil’s wife. Penny is famous for playing Laverne in “Laverne & Shirley,” which was created by Garry, and directing “A League of Their Own,” and after “Hocus Pocus,” she acted a little and has continued to direct and produce movies.
