Kristin Cavallari probably won’t be going into business with husband Jay Cutler

Kristin Cavallari is very busy.

Earlier this year, the 31-year-old published her second book, the New York Times-bestselling cookbook “True Roots.” Her lifestyle brand Uncommon James offers an ever-expanding array of jewelry and home décor, and recently opened its first brick-and-mortar outpost in Nashville, where Cavallari lives with her husband Jay Cutler.

And then there’s her reality docuseries “Very Cavallari”, which premiered on E! on July 8 and showcases the behind-the-scenes drama at Uncommon James HQ. Only a few episodes have aired so far, but already Cutler has emerged as the show’s surprise breakout star.

The 35-year-old former Chicago Bears quarterback serves as a macho foil to Cavallari and her employees on the series, interrupting scenes to, say, plop a cooler full of elk meat on the kitchen counter or explain why he doesn’t wear heels.

As funny as Cutler’s onscreen antics may seem, however, Cavallari said she prefers to keep her professional and personal lives separate.

“[Jay’s] opinion seems to always be to fire someone, which you see multiple times on the show,” she told Page Six. “So if it was up to him, people would be fired left and right. It’s probably a good thing that he doesn’t actually own his own company.”
Don’t expect Cutler to design any special capsule collections for the brand, either. “I never see Uncommon James doing men’s jewelry,” Cavallari laughed.

Though the star said the pros of exposing the inner workings of her company on television outweigh the cons, she didn’t expect her husband to be such a hit. Still, she finds his overnight reality-TV fame “pretty hilarious,” and is happy viewers get to see “the real him” — dry humor included.
Cavallari is currently gearing up for the November launch of Uncommon James’ kidswear offshoot, Little James, which she hopes to see on plenty of famous babies this fall — including the one-year-old son of her fellow “The Hills” alumni Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag. (Asked whether baby Gunner Pratt will be dressed in the line, Cavallari exclaimed, “He better!”)
She’s also relaunching Uncommon James Home to include shot glasses, champagne flutes and other “cute kitchen accessories” to attract a younger audience, and said that there’s potential to add more clothing and accessories offerings down the road.
The star added that since “Very Cavallari” premiered, Uncommon James has already seen an uptick in sales — particularly impressive considering that most of her sales are typically made through social media. Now, she noted, viewers are actively seeking out her brand on their own rather than simply discovering it through her Instagram.
I was expecting a little bit of an increase, but this has been great,” she said.
And in Cavallari’s world, being busy is a very good thing. “For now I’m maxed out, and this is where I want to be,” she said when asked about juggling her many business ventures. “I’m really enjoying everything I have currently.”
“Very Cavallari” airs Sundays at 10 p.m. EST on E!
