‘The Hills’ is returning to TV

The rest is still unwritten for the cast of MTV’s “The Hills.”

On Monday, the network announced a reboot of the beloved reality series, slated to be released next year. “The Hills: New Beginnings” is expected to follow several of the original cast members as they continue to navigate the next chapter of their lives in Los Angeles. MTV also dropped a 30-second trailer teasing the forthcoming series Monday night.

Though the official cast has not formally been announced, series veterans Spencer Pratt, Heidi Montag, Jason Wahler, Audrina Patridge, Justin Bobby Brescia, Stephanie Pratt and Frankie Delgado were all present on the red carpet for Monday’s Video Music Awards in New York.

The original series centered around “Laguna Beach” alum Lauren Conrad, before passing the torch to Kristin Cavallari halfway through the fifth season. And while a source told E! News Conrad is unlikely to return, Cavallari, 31, has long been open to a reunion.

“I would love to [do a reunion],” Cavallari, who now has her own E! show called “Very Cavallari,” told Page Six in April. “I’m totally open to it!”

“The Hills” premiered in 2006, wrapping after six seasons in July 2010.
