Fran Drescher wants Cardi B to play her daughter in ‘Nanny’ reboot

Fran Drescher still wants to do a “Nanny” reboot and she knows just who could help make it a smash.

“I’m totally down with doing it,” the actress told People about a talked-about revival of the ‘90s sitcom. “I don’t know what is going on with some of these networks out there because they do not seem to be hip to the fact that there’s an obsession amongst millennials for the show and moi!”

But Drescher knows the show will need some new blood if it’s to succeed.

“I wanna do a sitcom with Cardi B,” she said. “Wouldn’t she be great as my daughter?”

Drescher said she got the idea after seeing an Instagram post of the “I Like It” rapper in September at Milan Fashion week dressed in a head-to-toe animal print ensemble, with the caption “Fran Drescher.”

Saying she was flattered by Cardi’s outfit, she revealed, “And then I got my juices flowing and thought, ‘Wait a minute, she’s from New York, we both have funny voices, she could be my daughter!’”

Of course, the actress said that might necessitate a few changes to the show’s formula.

“Not from me and Mr. Sheffield, I would have to have a man of color,” she said. “I’m down with the brothers.”

Drescher starred in “The Nanny” from 1993 to 1999, playing Fran Fine, a nanny who falls in love with the widowed father of the wealthy Sheffield family.

In June, Drescher said she’d gone from thinking about a “Nanny” reboot to trying to make it happen.

“We’re working on a very big project,” she told Entertainment Tonight at the time. “It’s going to be very exciting for the fans, but I’m not at liberty to announce it yet. But it’s gonna be big.”
