Giuliana Rancic launches skincare line inspired by battle with breast cancer

Giuliana Rancic has an undeniably glamorous day job. But after being diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 36, her priorities shifted.

Rancic, now 44 and cancer-free, told Page Six her first instinct following her diagnosis was to clean up her lifestyle, beginning with her medicine cabinet.

“I set out to find [beauty] products that were safe to use,” she said. “To be honest, I had a hard time finding what I considered to be non-toxic skincare line that also treated the appearance of fine lines, discoloration and other skin issues.”

After scouring the market and coming up empty, Rancic decided to create a clean anti-aging skincare line of her own: Fountain of Truth, which launched early this month and includes an “insta-face lift elixir” ($86), honey mask ($60), hand cream ($28) and more.

“Our definition of clean beauty is a focus on highly effective botanicals and extracts, and products that are made without parabens, phthalates, formaldehydes, sodium laurel sulfates or synthetic dyes, are not tested on animals, and are biodegradable,” Rancic explained.

In place of these common (and controversial) additives, the E! anchor’s line features antioxidant-packed wakame seaweed along with minerals like iron, magnesium, copper and zinc. The ingredients are also fermented, a process popular in Korean beauty that supposedly makes products more potent and easy for the skin to absorb.

“I think it’s necessary for consumers to know exactly what’s inside the products they are using,” Rancic said.

And while Fountain of Truth’s focus may be on turning back the clock for smoother skin, the star added that it’s ultimately more about well-being than erasing every last wrinkle. “I think the most important thing is knowing that age is just a number, and what’s more important is feeling happy,” she said. “I feel good using clean skincare and can’t imagine using anything else.”

As for her beauty regrets? “Where do I start?” Rancic said. “My worst moment was getting an orange spray tan, cutting bangs and throwing on a tight leopard-print dress for a taping of ‘Fashion Police’ several years ago. It was awful, but we all get a good laugh looking back at that footage.”
