Michelle Williams and fiancé face hard times after choosing abstinence

Abstinence works well for Michelle Williams and fiancé Chad Johnson.

“When we started dating, Chad said, ‘Sex is not an option.’ I was like, ‘Okay! All right, cool,’” Williams, 38, told The Breakfast Club, adding that abstinence brought a wave of ease to the relationship. “I felt this was so good because I don’t feel pressure to have sex to keep a man. I got different results.”

Johnson has a background in spirituality. He was once a team chaplain for the Arizona Cardinals and currently serves the Pittsburgh Steelers. He and Williams met at a spiritual retreat in 2017.

“We were dating less than a year and he put a ring on it with no booty,” she said.

The pair got engaged shortly after Williams took the stage with Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland for a Destiny’s Child reunion at Coachella earlier this year.

When asked if waiting was hard, Johnson responded, “Everything works in my life. Nothing is malfunctioning. It’s real. Our love is real. The attraction is real.”

Williams quipped she can’t hug Johnson without him becoming aroused. But she doted on their romance throughout the interview.

“Chad accepted me for me,” Williams said. “I can wear my hair bonnet around him. I don’t have to have on makeup. He has plucked my chin hairs for me a few times before I started getting laser hair removal. I feel like he accepts me for everything, throughout everything.”

Chad has stuck by Williams’ side during her private ups and downs. They broke off their engagement twice during her recent battle with depression and subsequent treatment.

They also underwent premarital therapy for their reality show, “Chad Loves Michelle,” which airs Saturday on OWN.
