Lana Del Rey is a poet now

Lana Del Rey is ready to try on some new hats in 2019.

While teasing the upcoming release of a new song Tuesday night, the “Love” singer, 33, revealed she’ll soon be able to add published poet to her resume.

“Happy New Year to everyone. I hope you enjoy the new song I’m putting out on the ninth. It’s called ‘hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have—but i have it,’” she captioned a preview of the song on Instagram, before adding: “Also as of last week I finished a short book of poetry I’ve been writing over the last 13 months that I’ll be putting out later.”

Del Rey first brought up the collection while premiering her song “Venice Bitch” on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show in September. At the time she said she already had 13 “kind of long” poems written and that she planned to title the book “Violet Bent Backwards Over the Grass.”

It’s unclear when or who will publish the book, though Del Rey told Lowe she was flirting with the idea of self-publishing it, saying, “So I mean what I’d like to do is sort of self-publish but I’m not very good at the distribution side of things.”

In addition to finishing her book, Del Rey announced over the holidays that she had recently completed work on her upcoming fifth studio album, “Norman F—king Rockwell.”

She also tweeted that her New Year’s resolution was to spend 2019 living like an “Instagram baddie/YouTube vlogger.”

A rep for Del Rey did not respond to a request for comment.
