Willem Dafoe is too famous to enjoy New Year’s party in Brazil

Willem Dafoe is too famous now — even in Brazil.

He and wife Giada Colagrande tried to celebrate the New Year on Copacabana Beach in Rio, but had to retreat because shouting fans recognized him as the Green Goblin in three “Spider-Man” movies and as Vulko in “Aquaman.”

The couple were guests of Gilberto Gil, the guitarist/singer and former Brazilian culture minister, and Gil’s wife, Flora.

They were among 2.5 million tourists in Rio for the New Year and watched Gil’s show in front of the posh Copacabana Palace hotel before the film buffs recognized Dafoe.

Dafoe, who has been to Brazil many times, starred in the last movie by Argentine-Brazilian director Héctor Babenco, “Meu Amigo Hindu,” translated as “My Hindu Friend.”
