Golden Globes’ pre-show host AJ Gibson says he thinks Chrissy Metz actually called Alison Brie a “babe,” not a “bitch” while her mic was still hot on the red carpet Sunday night.
“I was standing on stage with Chrissy and thought she called Alison a babe,” Gibson told Page Six via email on Sunday night. “Chrissy is one of the kindest women in Hollywood and is so supportive of other talented women.”
He added, “If she did happen to use the ‘other’ word, I promise it was 1,000 percent a joke.”
The internet was abuzz after Metz was doing an pre-show interview with Gibson and Missi Pyle, when the camera panned to the “GLOW” star and Metz’s mic picked up what appeared to her be saying, “She’s such a bitch.”
However, when Metz found out, she quickly took to Twitter to shut down the story.
“It’s terribly unfortunate anyone would think much less run a story that was completely fabricated!” she tweeted on Sunday night. “I adore Alison and would never say a bad word about her, or anyone! I sure hope she knows my heart.”
Vanity Fair reporter Nicole Sperling says Brie told her of the comment, “But why? I know her. I saw her on the carpet and I told her how beautiful she looked.”
A rep for Metz did not immediately return our request for comment.
