Why makeup artist Bobbi Brown is giving up heels

Makeup artist Bobbi Brown is always on the move, and can’t be bothered with uncomfortable shoes.

“Being in the public eye, and often photographed at red carpet events, I’ve always worn the highest heels I could find since I’m 5 feet 0; I always carried a pair of sneakers in a bag to change into the second I could,” Brown, 61, told Page Six Style.

That is, until the beauty guru discovered Greats — “the coolest, most comfortable sneakers that look as good with my tuxedo pants as they do with my jeans,” as Brown described them. “Besides, my husband says everyone knows I’m short and nobody cares but me.”

Made in Brooklyn, the brand’s Italian leather sneakers are priced between $100 and $200; Brown’s favorite is the $199 Alta. And they’re so comfy, the cosmetics entrepreneur ultimately decided to part with her collection of Prada pumps and Louboutin platforms altogether by putting them up for sale on ThredUp.

Shoppers who wear a size 7 can peruse nine different pairs, from Alaïa ankle boots (originally $1,295, now $220) to patent leather Yves Saint Laurent pumps (marked down to $270 from $795). And besides helping Brown clean out her closet Marie Kondo-style, purchasers can feel good about pulling the trigger for another reason: 100 percent of proceeds will be donated to Girls Inc. to support the growth and success of young women around the world.

Brown hinted at her new stiletto-free lifestyle late last year. It’s funny, I now buy sneakers that cost as much as my Manolos used to cost,” she told The Cut in November. “I just realized I am happier when I’m most comfortable.”
