Life imitating art?

Brie Larson slipped into character as Captain Marvel at the Online Film Critics Society Awards in LA on Wednesday, wearing a seemingly superhero-inspired Christopher Kane dress featuring thousands of crystals, slit sleeves and a bright red lace skirt.

With its pointy bedazzled bodice, the 29-year-old Oscar winner’s dress mimicked her Marvel alter ego’s armored breastplate on the top, while its scarlet pleated skirt reflected one of the dominant colors of the superhero’s iconic costume.

“Captain Marvel,” which hits theaters on March 8, will be Marvel’s first female-led film. Set in the 1990s, it centers on Larson’s Carol Danvers, an Air Force pilot who gains superpowers following an alien encounter.

And judging by the actress’s latest look, Larson appears to be relishing the role even when she’s off the set.
