Many celebrities opt out of taking their husbands’ last names, but not Priyanka Chopra.
The “Quantico” star appeared on “The Tonight Show” on Tuesday and shared why it was important to her to begin going by Priyanka Chopra Jonas following her wedding to Nick Jonas.
“I always wanted to add his name to mine because I feel like we’re becoming family and I’m a little traditional and old school like that,” she explained, “but I don’t take away my identity. He gets added to who I am.”
Though the couple ended up with an extravagant three-day wedding in India, they didn’t originally plan to get married in Chopra’s home country. Chopra, 36, said they initially wanted to tie the knot on a private island “away from everything,” but logistically it became too difficult.
Eventually, Jonas, 26, asked his bride-to-be, “‘Shouldn’t I be taking my bride from her home?'”
The pair tied the knot in December after getting engaged in July. They had dated for two months.
