The ‘Botched’ doctors’ advice on picking a plastic surgeon

Dr. Terry Dubrow and Dr. Paul Nassif don’t want prospective plastic surgery patients to end up on their reality show “Botched.”

The dynamic duo, best known for fixing surgery gone wrong on TV, gave Page Six their best tips for finding the perfect doctor.

“First of all, you want to make sure you find a doctor that is a board-certified specialist in whatever that field is — whatever it is — whether it’s plastic surgery, facial plastic surgery, ocular plastic surgery, brain surgery, whatever it is,” Nassif recently told us. “And two, if they do a procedure, you want to make sure they do a lot of it. I mean that’s one of the biggest things. You gotta make sure it’s somebody who has — you can see before-and-afters — we all pick the best before-and-afters and stuff like that. But you just got to make sure that you do your research on that doctor.”

“You want to make sure that doctor is specifically trained in that procedure,” Dubrow added.

Dubrow also compared performing plastic surgery to being a professional athlete.

“It’s very much like being a tennis player or a football player,” he said. “And if you don’t do it all the time, if you don’t do hard cases, you’re not in shape. You’re not very good at it … so go to someone who’s fairly busy, who’s not easy to get into, who maybe has a little gray hair or a lot of dye in their hair or not so much hair all that but someone who’s very experienced and busy.”

“Remember, it’s not about saving money,” Nassif chimed in. “That’s where people are getting mistakes. They go for the lowest cost and then you don’t know what you’re getting.”
