Pink took a page out of Carrie Underwood’s lyric book.
The 39-year-old singer admits to Ellen DeGeneres on Friday’s episode of her eponymous talk show that she and husband Carey Hart have their ups and downs, and she took one fight to an entirely new level. While playing “Burning Questions,” DeGeneres asks the pop singer what was the dumbest thing she’s done to hurt herself.
“Slashing [Carey’s] tires!” she shares, adding, “It wasn’t that long ago.”
The “Beautiful Trauma” songstress and Hart have been married since 2006 and share kids Willow, 7, and Jameson, 2.
“It was Thanksgiving,” she recalls. “The holidays are stressful.”
Unfortunately, while attempting to cut through another tire, Pink injured herself.
“I got clean through the first one. He has a raised F250 and those tires are thick, thank you very much,” she says of Hart’s truck. “And the second one I lost a little steam, and I hit the metal part and my hand just went straight down the knife. Got 13 stitches, but here’s the thing, I didn’t need any anesthesia.”
She’s since recovered.
Pink later took to Twitter to clarify that the incident actually took place more than 10 years ago. “The story going around about my slashing tires is from 2003. I have not harmed a car in 15 years. #reformed #twenties #passion #tires,” she wrote.
In an interview from 2012 with Elvis Duran, Pink elaborated on the circumstances surrounding the tire slashing.
“It was a long story … we went upstairs to my bedroom to have a quickie, and I left a cigarette in an oven mitt, and it set the bedroom on fire,” she said. “And then I got mad…
“… We got in a huge fight about something that happened while upstairs,” she continued. “And then he was trying to leave, and I didn’t want him driving drunk.”
“So the bottom line is, I was trying to save his life,” she ended the story, referencing her decision to slash his tires.
