Gwyneth Paltrow isn’t running from the lawsuit filed against her over a 2016 skiing incident, as she just filed a counterclaim alleging that she was actually the injured victim — not Terry Sanderson.
Sanderson first filed the suit against Paltrow in January, alleging that she had been skiing “out of control” on Feb. 26, 2016, when she ran into him and left him alone to tend to his injuries, and wanted at least $3.1 million in damages.
Paltrow is disputing Sanderson’s allegations.
“Ms. Paltrow remembers what happened very clearly,” read her suit, obtained by Page Six on Wednesday. “She was enjoying skiing with her family on vacation in Utah, when Plaintiff — who was uphill from Ms. Paltrow — plowed into her back. She sustained a full ‘body blow.’ Ms. Paltrow was angry with Plaintiff, and said so. Plaintiff apologized. She was shaken and upset, and quit skiing for the day even though it was still morning.”
Paltrow, 46, also alleged that Sanderson, 69, “had told his doctor about one year earlier that he was blind in his right eye, and that his vision in his left eye was decreasing. Just three weeks before the incident, Plaintiff told his doctor that Plaintiff had ‘gotten old all of a sudden.’ Other than his vision problems, he had 15 other chronic medical issues.”
The Goop founder also alleged that Sanderson’s friend said that he acted the same after the incident as he did before the crash.
She also denied that she was “out of control” in her skiing, as she was maintaining a slow speed to stay behind her children, Apple and Moses, and further alleged that an employee came to the scene and took a report of the incident.
Now Paltrow is seeking “only symbolic damages in the amount of $1” in addition to her attorneys’ fees.
A rep for Paltrow declined to comment, but another rep previously told us that “this lawsuit is completely without merit. Anyone who reads the facts will realize that.”
