Why Sean Spicer is excited for new ‘Extra’ gig

It’s “Extra” Spicey!

In news that feels as if it’s coming from an alternate universe, combustible former White House press secretary Sean Spicer is now a special DC correspondent for “Extra.”

The move makes Spicer an unlikely colleague of Ken-doll-like host Mario Lopez.

We’re told Spicer was approached by a third party with the idea for the gig, and they took it to “Extra” producers, who jumped on the opportunity.

He’ll get going with a series of spots about Trump-world insiders Mike Pompeo, Kellyanne Conway and Sarah Huckabee Sanders — but we’re told that he hopes to cover some Dems in future installments.

They’ll air Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

“It’s very fun, it’s very light,” he told us. “It’s just an opportunity, as politics and pop culture have intersected — it gives people a behind-the-scenes look at what their personal lives are like . . . We go walk the dog with Kellyanne and her kids. So it gives a little insight into these folks.”

Spicer told us that it’s not necessarily the beginning of a TV career.

“When I left the White House, I said I’d do things that are fun and engaging, and this fit that bill.”
