Javier Bardem takes veiled shot at Trump during Oscars

Spanish-born actor Javier Bardem took a veiled shot at President Trump while presenting an award at the Oscars on Sunday night.

“There are no borders or walls that can restrain ingenuity and talent,” he told the audience in his native language.

“In any region of any country of any continent, there are always great stories that move us,” Bardem added. “And tonight we celebrate the excellence and importance of the cultures and languages of different countries.”

Bardem was presenting the award for Best Foreign Film alongside actress Angela Bassett when he made his comments.

His statement appeared to be the second Oscars jab at President Trump following the show’s opening monologue, which included another border wall dig from comedian Maya Rudolph.

“Just a quick update for everybody in case you’re confused,” Rudolph told the crowd. “There is no host tonight…There won’t be a popular movie category — and Mexico is not paying for the wall.”

Trump has been vocal about the Oscars in the past, but has yet to comment on this years broadcast. He has repeatedly claimed that Mexico will be paying for his proposed southern border wall.
