Selma Blair attends Vanity Fair Oscar Party with cane after MS diagnosis

Selma Blair is stronger than her disease.

The 46-year-old actress attended the Vanity Fair Oscar Party on Sunday night in her first public appearance since announcing her multiple sclerosis diagnosis in October. Blair stunned in a multicolored gown and cape, but it was her cane that caught everyone’s attention. People on social media lauded the star for stepping out so bravely.

“This makes me cry. I have a friend whose Dad has MS. It’s just incredible the strength people have to get up everyday. Amazing will & spirit,” one fan tweeted.

“God love her,” wrote another.

In January, Blair gave a candid update on her disease’s progression.

“There is a truth with neurodegenerative brain disease. It is uncomfortable. It is a stadium of uncontrollable anxiety at times,” she shared on Instagram. “Going out, being sociable holds a heavy price. My brain is on fire. I am freezing. We feel alone with it even though the loving support has been a god send and appreciated. People write me asking how I do it. I do my best.”
