Colton Underwood treated himself to a makeover after filming “The Bachelor,” but not everyone is a fan.
On Monday night’s finale episode, the former football player sent home the two remaining contestants and appeared with Chris Harrison to defend his pursuit of Cassie Randolph, the frontrunner who left of her own accord.
But the virgin bachelor ended up spending more time defending his darker and shorter hair against fans on Twitter.
“Just left part 1 of the finale. I love you all so much. Say what u want about the hair. I like it,” he captioned a selfie on Instagram after even Harrison mentioned the new style during the live show. He also responded even more bluntly on Twitter: “My hair looks good. Chill.”
His spiked ‘do garnered comparisons from online haters to Cameron Diaz’s flip in “There’s Something About Mary,” boy bands from the ’90s and Dylan and Cole Sprouse in “Big Daddy.” But there was one even more brutal comparison: Cassie’s dad.
The similarity is particularly ironic given that the 23-year-old contestant’s father refused to give Colton his blessing to propose to Cassie when the show visited their hometown. “For me, to give a blessing to someone after a half-hour conversation isn’t really diligent,” Cassie’s father said. Later, he visited Cassie in Portugal and gave her some sage advice, which led to her self-removal from the show.
“My dad actually showed up at my hotel room earlier. He talked to me about how I was feeling, and how big this whole thing is, and he told me about my mom and him and their kind of love,” Cassie explained to Colton. “He never had any doubts about it.”
Colton jumped the fence to chase after her and later eliminated Tayshia Adams and Hannah Godwin.
Part two of the finale airs on March 12, when his current relationship with Cassie will be revealed.
