Céline Dion, 51, named new face of L’Oréal Paris

Céline Dion is worth it.

The singer, 51, was just announced as the new global ambassador for L’Oréal Paris, her first-ever beauty contract.

“I’m in shock, actually. I never, never expected something like this,” Dion told People. “I never really felt confident beauty-wise. [But now], I’ve never felt as beautiful, as strong, and I really think that the best is yet to come.”

As for her newfound confidence, Dion told Elle she wants to spread the wealth. “I am now embracing myself and feel free to do what I want, where I want, when I want,” she said.

The pop icon, whose Las Vegas residency will come to an end in June, also spoke about the effect of body-shaming trolls; following the death of her husband René Angélil in January 2016, many have criticized Dion for her noticeably slimmer frame.

“Dancing has been in my DNA all of my life,” Dion told People, attributing the weight loss to her ballet routine, which she practices four times a week with backup dancer Pepe Muñoz. “People say, ‘She’s a lot thinner,’ but I’m working hard. I like to move and [weight loss] comes with it.”

Dion dropped a hint about her upcoming partnership when she sported a sweater with “I’m Worth It,” L’Oréal’s tagline, in Paris in January.

L’Oréal has been embracing older celebrity ambassadors lately; other faces of the brand include Jane Fonda, 81, Julianne Moore, 58, and Andie MacDowell, 60. Meanwhile, Naomi Campbell recently booked her first-ever beauty campaign with Nars at the age of 48.
