Kit Harington isn’t Jon Snow anymore.
The actor, 32, shocked fans on “Saturday Night Live” when he appeared without his rugged beard. “This is Jon Snow if he had to suddenly play for the Yankees,” he joked of his “prepubescent” facial hair (though the English actor admitted he had no idea what the New York sports reference really meant).
Negative reaction was swift on social media. “I’m suing SNL for having Kit Harington shave his beard. This is an utter travesty,” one person tweeted. “If Jon Snow can resurrect from dead, I’m sure his beard can too,” another said. Even Gary Janetti chimed in: “Kit Harington shaved his beard and he’s just ordinary underneath. We’ve been played.”
Some even compared him to George Constanza, Josh Hutcherson and Corey Feldman.
The change likely has to do with the end of the HBO series, the series finale of which premieres this Sunday. He’s not the only Westerosi to switch up their look after 10 years; fictional sisters Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) and Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) have dyed their hair blond and pink, respectively.
Even wife Rose Leslie, whom Harington met on the set of “GoT” when they played lovers Snow and Wildling Ygritte, isn’t too sure about the new look.
“How soon can you grow back that beard?” she asked during Harington’s monologue.
