Neil Patrick Harris hosted a starry soirée to celebrate husband David Burtka‘s new cookbook, “Life is a Party,” at the Boom Boom Room at the Top of the Standard Hotel on Monday night.
“Neil was proudly showing off David’s cookbook to a group of partygoers,” said a spy. “He was drinking red wine and greeted all his friends with big hugs.”
A slew of VIP guests — including Gayle King, Jessica Seinfeld and Jane Krakowski — sampled some of Burtka’s new recipes as well as bites by top chef Rocco DiSpirito as they enjoyed the spanning view of the city.
We hear Burtka, wearing a rainbow bomber jacket, made the rounds but took a moment to pose for “cute pics” with Harris.
“They were both non-stop laughing and so excited for the launch,” said another source.
While Harris and Burtka flitted from guest to guest, sipping cocktails and schmoozing were chefs Amanda Freitag, Marc Murphy, Alex Guarnaschelli, Anne Burrell and Mary Giuliani.
The party also attracted Kathy Najimy, Beth Stern, Kerry Butler, Montego Glover, Lizzie and Jonathan Tisch, Stacey Griffith and Micah Jesse, plus drag queens Marti G Cummings, Brita Filter, Jasmine Rice Labeija and Lady Bunny, who spun tunes. Lee Brian Schrager co-hosted with NPH.
The night was made even more special when partygoers noticed a giant rainbow over the Empire State Building.
“It was like a metaphor for the perfect evening,” said the first spy.
Each attendee received a signed copy of Burtka’s cookbook.
