Kim Kardashian explains sink with no basin

The mystery behind Kim Kardashian‘s futuristic sinks has been solved.

Last week Kardashian, 38, revealed a bathroom that features sinks with no basins in her 73 Questions interview with Vogue, and now she’s explaining her unique décor to perplexed fans.  

“Since everyone is a little bit confused about our sinks, I thought I would just show you guys a little tour of our bathroom,” she explained in her Instagram Stories Wednesday.

Kardashian explained that her husband Kanye West, along with designer Axel Vervoordt and architect Claudio Silvestrin, designed the unusual sinks. It took eight prototypes before a final design was decided upon.

Despite appearing to be completely flat, the sinks feature a slight slope so water can drain into a tiny slit. “You can put it on as high pressure as you want and no backsplash will come up,” she added. She added that it was Silverstrin’s idea to pull the sinks away from the wall.

Even the light switches are unusual. Kardashian explained they’re comprised of three metal buttons — one for on, one for dim and one for off — and no wall plate. “There’s no box around it which I think is really cool and more visually appealing,” she said.

The reality star’s home tour continued with a visit to her bedroom, where she showed off a massive 130-inch television that rises from the floor. “It comes up and down, looks just like the floor,” she described.

Kris Jenner has previously said that Kardashian and West’s home is worth $60 million dollars.
