Offset facing felony gun possession charge for arrest last summer

Offset is facing a felony gun possession charge related to his arrest last July in Georgia.

Clayton County prosecutors have filed one felony and two misdemeanor charges against the Migos member, reports TMZ.

Last July, Offset, whose real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, was arrested after being pulled over for allegedly making an improper lane change outside Atlanta. After he was stopped, police claim they found a gun and marijuana in the vehicle.

In addition to the felony charge for firearm possession by a convicted felon, Offset also faces a misdemeanor charge for marijuana possession and another for the illegal lane change.

The website reports that a felony charge for possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime was dropped.

Following the arrest, Offset’s lawyer, Drew Findling, claimed his client had been busted for being black and successful.

A rep for the rapper did not respond to a request for comment.
