Lizzo says she loves ‘normalizing’ butt dimples and back fat

Lizzo is proud to be who she is.

The “Cuz I Love You” singer, 31, recently told Essence that she doesn’t care what people think about the risqué photos she posts on social media, saying: “I’m doing this for myself. I love creating shapes with my body, and I love normalizing the dimples in my butt or the lumps in my thighs or my back fat or my stretch marks. I love normalizing my black-ass elbows. I think it’s beautiful.”

She previously expressed that she only wears “black hair” — referring to her collection of textured wigs, sew-ins, clip-ons and her own natural afro — because she believes that “black women representing black things makes a bigger mark.”

Lizzo, born Melissa Jefferson, explained that she thinks “that people love authenticity and they love to see people truly enjoying themselves.”

“My social media is very self-serving,” she added. “I do it for me. Even if I have 500 followers and no likes, I can still go on tour selling my show out and be fine. And I always wanna kind of keep it that way — like my social media is something that needs me more than I need it.”
