Meryl Streep’s fake ‘Big Little Lies’ teeth had premiere buzzing

Meryl Streep‘s fake teeth were the talk of the “Big Little Lies” Season 2 premiere.

As guests filed out of the screening of the hit HBO show into the afterparty, people were buzzing about whether Streep was wearing prosthetic teeth on-screen.

One attendee was overheard saying Streep “asked to wear the fake teeth to more resemble” her on-screen son, Alexander Skarsgård. Page Six confirmed on Thursday that the A-lister was in fact sporting false teeth this season.

“Yes they were 100% fashioned and inspired by Alex’s teeth,” executive producer Gregg Fienberg told Page Six. “She is his mother after all. It was Meryl’s brilliant idea.”

We’re told her Oscar-winning makeup artist Roy Hellund had the teeth made in London by Fangs FX.

Meanwhile, at the party, Streep — a newbie to the show this season — was spotted sipping on martinis and fielding a selfie request from Keegan-Michael Key. The two also briefly danced together as Lizzo played in the background.

Streep’s co-stars at the soirée included Zoë Kravitz, who was chatting and taking photos with Key, Donald Glover and Paul Rudd; a barefoot Shailene Woodley hanging out with Skarsgård and dancing with Iain Armitage; Reese Witherspoon deep in conversation with Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson; and Laura Dern floating around talking to everyone.

Nicole Kidman and husband Keith Urban were noticeably missing from the afterparty, though they attended the premiere. A source tells us she had to leave to film HBO’s “The Undoing” uptown.

Earlier in the night, Witherspoon and Kidman introduced the first episode to the audience.

“The show that ended up on the screen is really a testament to the power of female friendship and female partnership, and I’m enormously proud,” Witherspoon told the crowd, praising Kidman.

Kidman added, “Anyone in this room who works really hard knows that if you have a supportive family, it makes it so much easier. But it means that families do have to give you up for a long period of time, so we want to say thank you to our families, and thank you to audiences that really demanded this. We’re so grateful.”

“Big Little Lies” Season 2 premieres June 9 on HBO.
