Kyle Richards: ‘RHOBH’ saved Kim Richards’ life

The “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” has a special meaning for Kim Richards.

Kim’s sister — and current “Housewife” — Kyle Richards revealed on SiriusXM’s “The Jenny McCarthy Show” that Kim, 54, credits the show with saving her life and helping maintain her sobriety.

“I would love to see Kim back,” Kyle, 50, said, referencing rumors that her sister is in talks to come back for Season 10. “The audience loves her and you know she has a lot going on in her life right now. She has two new grandchildren actually.”

She continued, “If anything, being on the show made her accountable and she says that as well. She says that it saved her life because you know, there’s nowhere to hide and everyone knows — now anywhere she goes, people know who she is. She can’t get away with anything! So it actually helped her!”

Kyle revealed in the show’s first season (2010-2011) that Kim was an alcoholic, causing family drama to come to light at the show’s reunion. Kim and Kyle’s rollercoaster relationship played out until Kim left “RHOBH” in Season 5 (2014-2015). She occasionally makes cameos on the show.

In 2015, Kim was arrested after a “drunken rampage” at the Beverly Hills Hotel in April. She was arrested again in August for shoplifting at a local Target.

She was sentenced to perform 450 community service hours, attend 55 AA meetings and placed on a three-year probation for the crimes. Her probation was lifted in September 2018.
