Trainer Ashley Borden: A ‘Revenge Body’ is actually about confidence

“Revenge Body” trainer Ashley Borden thinks the show could use a new name.

“I think that now people are kind of viewing it as it’s not just ‘revenge’ on a boyfriend or girlfriend,” she recently told Page Six. “I think it should almost be called ‘Confidence Body’ because look at Khloé [Kardashian] now, yes, physically she looks different, she looks great, but it’s also just the way she carries herself that she’s more confident now and I think that’s what the message is for participants on the show.”
With Season 3 of the Kardashian-hosted show premiering on E! July 7, Borden is revealing what it takes to truly transform someone’s body. This time around, Borden was tasked with training a man looking to gain weight and a woman looking to lose weight.
“I think we’ve only had one [episode] before of a guy who needed to put weight on,” she explained. “I was so glad that we did that this year because it’s such a neglected demographic of people who also have shame around the fact that they’re super skinny or feel like they have no body.”
Even though the two participants had very different goals, Borden kept them on a regimented plan, which included texting her photos of their meals.
“I have to be very, very strict and have them understand I’m not playing,” she said. “We are friendly, but I’m not your girlfriend, we’re not just hanging out and working out. There’s an end goal for this and I have to constantly remind people, ‘You signed up for this show, I didn’t, so this is not a victim mentality, I’m not doing this to you, I’m working with you.'”

The LA-based trainer told us that now her reality TV clients look, “Freakin’ great,” adding that although the show has wrapped, she’s still in touch with them. “They feel like my children,” she said. “I’m not one to blow them off once it’s over.”
She doles out the same tough love to her celebrity clients which have included Rumer Wilis, Christina Aguilera and “Shahs of Sunset” star Reza Farahan.
“When I’m working with a celebrity, I have to remind them that body fat doesn’t care how much money you make [or] what movie you did,” she said. “Everyone is on the same playing field when it comes to losing weight, whether you have eight ‘bajillion’ dollars or eight dollars.”
Borden lays out each plan for her “Revenge Body” clients with the help of her app, AB Fit. When her episode premieres this summer, her clients’ workouts will be available for anyone who purchases the app.
“I get so many questions about what they did and I’m like, ‘This,’ because I’m so obsessed with giving people tools they need to succeed,” she said.
She also just launched a new program within the app titled “On-Ramp 1.0” and “On-Ramp 2.0” for people looking to start a fitness routine from scratch.
“Nothing is more depressing than starting a program you can’t do,” she said of her newly-launched beginner routine. “For beginner people that don’t know what they’re doing, this is a perfect set up.”
